- Peter B. CoffinPresident
Peter Coffin is the founder and President of Breckinridge Capital Advisors, Inc., a Boston based investment advisor managing over $21 billion in fixed income portfolios. Prior to founding Breckinridge, Peter was a Senior Vice President with Massachusetts Financial Services (MFS). At MFS, he managed municipal bond portfolios totaling over $2 billion and supervised the management of another $3 billion of investment-grade and high-yield municipal bond strategies. In addition, as a member of the MFS’s Fixed Income Policy Committee, Peter shared responsibility for the oversight of a range of taxable fixed income strategies for mutual fund and institutional client portfolios. Peter began his career as an analyst in the Bond and Money Market Group of the Connecticut National Bank. He then worked in Aetna’s Bond Investment Division as an investment analyst in both the Financial Guarantee and Corporate Public Bond Departments. Peter received a B.A. with honors in Classical Studies from Hamilton College in 1982 and is currently serving on the College’s Board of Trustees. He is also on the Board of The Forum for Sustainable and Responsible Investment (US SIF) and served a term on the Municipal Securities Rule Making Board (MSRB). Peter speaks regularly at conferences on topics related to the management of fixed income portfolios and his comments on the developments in the fixed income markets are regularly reported in numerous publications.
- David J. Madigan*Chief Investment Officer
David joined Breckinridge in November of 2003 and has over 20 years of experience in the municipal bond market. Previously David was Executive Vice President at Thomson Financial where he was responsible for development and production of all global fixed income research products. He is currently serving on the Municipal Securities Rulemaking Board as a public representative for investors and on the Town of Duxbury Board of Selectmen. David gained expertise in fixed income portfolio management as a Private Bank asset manager for Bankers Trust and at Prudential Insurance where he managed single state municipal bond funds. David held the position of Chief Municipal Strategist for Merrill Lynch and was often quoted in the press, was a featured presenter at institutional conferences and was named to the Institutional Investor All Star list. His research on municipal bond risk management was published in 1994 in The Handbook of Municipal Bonds and in 1996 in Derivatives Risk and Responsibility. He received a B.B.A .in Accounting from the University of Notre Dame and an M.B.A. in Finance and Marketing from the University of Chicago.
- Matthew C. Buscone*Senior Vice President
Matt joined the Trading team in August of 2002 and transitioned to Portfolio Management in 2008. He has over 18 years of experience in the municipal bond market. Prior to joining the firm, Matt was a Trader at Mellon Private Asset Management where he was responsible for the tax exempt trading in over two thousand individual trust accounts and assisted with trading on six municipal bond funds. Prior to Mellon, Matt was a Portfolio Manager at David L. Babson and Co. for both taxable and tax exempt money market portfolios. While at David L. Babson, Matt also had trading responsibilities for the separately managed municipal accounts. Matt graduated with a B.A. in Economics from Bryant College in Smithfield, RI.
- Anthony GrecoSenior Vice President
Anthony joined Breckinridge in 2004 and has been promoted several times during his time with the firm, most recently to Senior Vice President and Portfolio Manager in June of 2014. Prior to moving to the portfolio management desk, Anthony was a member of the Trading department at Breckinridge, initially joining the team in 2008 and rising to Head of Trading in 2013. In addition to his role on the investment team, Anthony has been a key architect of the proprietary technology employed by the firm. His vision and insight have been instrumental in the development of Breckinridge’s trading and portfolio management platforms as well as the reconciliation systems utilized by the firm. Anthony also sits on the firm’s risk committee. Prior to his move to the investment side of the business, Anthony served Breckinridge in a variety of operational capacities, from client services to account reconciliation to portfolio management support. Anthony earned a B.S. in Accounting from Stonehill College.
- Sara Chanda*Senior Vice President
Sara joined Breckinridge in July 2010 as a Trader, and transitioned to Portfolio Management in December 2013. Previously, Sara was a Vice President and Trader at Eaton Vance Management responsible for trading various specialty state mutual funds. In addition, she oversaw their Separately Managed Account trading and operations while focusing on systems automation projects. Prior to Eaton Vance, Sara was responsible for municipal bond trading at Fidelity Investments. Sara began her career at State Street Bank & Trust Company. Sara holds a B.S. in Business Administration from Providence College and an M.B.A. from Boston University.
- Jeffrey Glenn, CFA*Senior Vice President
Jeff joined Breckinridge's Trading team in May 2012 and transitioned to Portfolio Management in March 2015. Jeff brings over 15 years of investment experience to the firm, most recently serving as an Associate Portfolio Manager/Analyst at Brandes Investment Partners. In this role, he researched and traded corporate bonds for the firm's domestic fixed income products. In addition, Jeff served on Brandes' Investment Committee, the body tasked with setting overall portfolio positioning for client accounts, and assisted in the development of the firm's Global Bond product. Prior to his time at Brandes, Jeff was an Associate Director at Banc One Capital Markets where he was responsible for covering investment grade utility credits. Jeff began his career at Old Republic Asset Management as an Investment Analyst. Jeff holds a B.A. from Union College and is a member of the CFA Institute.

Ji Young joined Breckinridge in October 2010 as a member of the Credit Research team. She transitioned to Portfolio Management in March 2012 as Portfolio Analyst and was promoted to Portfolio Manager in March 2013. Prior to joining the firm, Ji Young was a Credit Analyst in the Public Finance Group at Assured Guaranty. She began her career at Financial Security Assurance where she analyzed municipal and corporate bonds. Ji Young is a member of the National Federation of Municipal Analysts and the Boston Municipal Analyst Forum. She holds a B.A. in Political Science from Yale University.

Eric joined Breckinridge as a Performance Analyst in June 2013. He began his career in the investment management industry in 2008 and previously worked at Pioneer Investments. Eric started at Pioneer Investments in client service, then moved on to a Data Analyst role and finally settled into his niche as a Performance Analyst. In that role he supported marketing, portfolio management and product management with presentations for clients, attribution, returns and composite membership management related to compliance with GIPS. Eric holds a B.A. from Emerson College and an M.B.A. from UMass Boston.

- Neil Grabowski*Director of Credit Research
Neil joined Breckinridge in May of 2008 as a Senior Vice President and Director of Research. He has over 30 years experience. Prior to joining the firm, Neil was Director of Municipal Bond Research at Gannett Welsh & Kotler, LLC. Neil began his career at Aetna Life & Casualty in Hartford where he directed municipal research and managed insurance portfolios. He also has held research positions at the Colonial Group and Wellington Management. Neil is a member of the National Federation of Municipal Analysts and the Boston Municipal Analyst Forum. He holds a B.A. and M.B.A. from the University of Connecticut.

Adam joined Breckinridge in September 2009 and now serves as the Director of Municipal Research. Formerly, he was the Chief Financial and Policy Analyst for Connecticut's association of towns and cities. His writing on municipal insolvency and public pension law has appeared in The Bond Buyer, the daily newspaper of public finance. He has also authored two academic articles on the history of Connecticut's personal income tax and state budget. Adam holds a J.D. from the University of Connecticut, an M.P.A. from Syracuse University, and a B.A. from Amherst College.

Nick joined Breckinridge Capital Advisors in March of 2009 as Vice President of Research and now serves as the Director of Corporate Research and is a member of the firm’s investment committee. He has 20 years of industry experience and most recently was Vice President at Wellington Management where he researched and managed corporate bonds. He also held senior research positions with Merrill Lynch in New York and Toronto. While at Merrill, he was recognized by two fixed-income investor surveys as a ranked analyst for corporate bond research. He began his career at Smith Barney in Tokyo as an assistant bond trader. Nick is a member of the CFA Institute, the Boston Security Analysts Society and the Fixed Income Analysts’ Society. He is a member of the Anatolia College investment committee and also sits on the SASB Advisory Council. Nick holds a B.A. from Middlebury College and earned his M.B.A., Magna Cum Laude, from the F.W. Olin School of Business at Babson College.

Rob joined Breckinridge in April of 2010 as a Vice President of Research. He has 11 years of experience and most recently was Senior Research Analyst at Opus Investment Management where he analyzed corporate and municipal bonds. Rob began his career in credit research at State Street Bank as a participant in its commercial loan officer development program. He has also held commercial credit analyst positions at Cambridge Savings Bank and Eastern Bank. Rob is a member of The Boston Security Analysts Society, the CFA Institute and the National Federation of Municipal Analysts. He holds a B.S. from Boston College and an M.B.A. from Boston University.

Chris joined Breckinridge in 1999 to assist with portfolio management and municipal bond analysis. He has over 19 years of municipal experience that began at Putnam Investments. He earned his CFA designation in 2001, and followed by serving as a program Instructor. Chris supports analysis of the firm's corporate bonds. He was previously a Senior Database Security Analyst with Scudder Kemper Investments. Chris received a B.S. in Business Finance from Ithaca College. He is a member of the Boston Municipal Analysts Forum, the CFA Institute, and the Boston Security Analysts Society.

Alriona joined Breckinridge in June of 2002. Previously, she was employed by Zurich Scudder in Dublin, Ireland in their portfolio administration group. Alriona holds a Masters in Business Administration from the Kemmy School of Business at the University of Limerick, Ireland, a Certificate in Investment Management from Dublin City University, a Graduate Diploma in Business Administration from the University of Limerick and a B.A. in Economics from the University College Dublin. She is also a member of the National Federation of Municipal Analysts and the Boston Municipal Analyst Forum.

Sweta joined Breckinridge in October of 2010. Sweta brings with her over 10 years of municipal and corporate research experience. Prior to joining the firm, Sweta held research positions at Income Research and Management and Wellington Management. Sweta also worked for New York State Division of Budget in its Debt Management Unit overseeing bond issuance for the State and Public Authorities. Sweta holds a B.A. from the University of Massachusetts, an M.P.A. from University of Texas at Austin and an M.B.A. from State University of New York at Albany. She is the Vice President for the Boston Municipal Analysts Forum and also a member of the National Association of Municipal Analysts. She has assisted with NFMA’s white paper on expert work products and its response to the GASB’s preliminary views on Postemployment Benefit Accounting and Financial Reporting.

Heather joined Breckinridge in March 2015 as a Vice President of Research. Heather was most recently at CommonAngels Ventures, where she invested in early-stage software and technology startup companies. Prior to venture capital, Heather was a Vice President at Loomis, Sayles, & Co. where she covered investment grade, high yield, and bank loan investments in the global telecommunications and emerging markets sectors. She has held positions as an investment grade credit analyst at Columbia Management and as a mid-cap corporate banking analyst at Bank of America, where she participated in the company's credit training program. Heather is a member of the CFA Institute and the Boston Security Analysts Society. Heather holds a B.A. from Boston University and an M.B.A from the MIT Sloan School of Management.

Abi rejoined Credit Research in July 2015 after two years with Breckinridge’s Consultant Relations Team where she focused on the development of our institutional relationships and was a leader in introducing our environmental, social and governance “ESG” capabilities to clients. As a part of the Research Team, Abi covers a variety of municipal bond sectors and contributes to the ongoing development of Breckinridge’s ESG frameworks. She also frequently participates in industry conference panel discussions regarding the importance of integrating ESG analysis into mainstream fixed income credit research. Abi began her career with Breckinridge’s Client Administration team in June 2009 and transitioned to Credit Research as a Research Associate in September 2009, was promoted to an Analyst in July 2011 and a Senior Analyst in February 2013. Abi holds a B.S. in Psychology from Tufts University and an M.B.A in Finance from the Boston University School of Management. Abi holds her Series 65 license.

Andrew joined Breckinridge in September 2013. Previously, he held analyst positions with Standard & Poor’s Rating Services and the Office of the New York City Comptroller. Andrew earned a master’s degree in business administration and a master’s degree in urban planning from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He received his B.A. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Andrew is a member of the National Federation of Municipal Analysts and the Boston Municipal Analysts Forum.

Khurram joined Breckinridge in June 2012. Khurram analyzes municipal and corporate bonds. Most recently, he was a Municipal Credit intern at C.W. Henderson & Associates. Prior to that, Khurram was as an Options and Derivatives Research Analyst at TDD Options. Khurram is a member of the National Federation of Municipal Analysts and the Fixed Income Analysts Society. He holds an M.B.A. from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and a M.S. from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign.

Michael joined Breckinridge in November 2011 as a member of the Operations team, and in October 2012 he transitioned to the Credit Research team. Before joining Breckinridge, he worked at State Street where he handled account reconciliation and trade support responsibilities. Michael is a member of the National Federation of Municipal Analysts and the Boston Municipal Analyst Forum and holds a B.A. in Small Business Management & Entrepreneurship from the University of Massachusetts – Amherst. He is currently pursuing his M.B.A. at Northeastern University's D’Amore-McKim School of Business.

Kevin joined Breckinridge in January 2013. Kevin analyzes municipal and corporate bonds. Prior to joining the firm, he was an Investment Banking Intern at Sustainable Development Capital where he helped financial institutions, corporations and developers structure and raise capital for large-scale renewable energy and sustainable development projects. Kevin is a member of the National Federation of Municipal Analysts and the Fixed Income Analysts Society. He holds an M.S. in Sustainability Management from Columbia University and a B.A. in Psychology and Accounting from Ohio Wesleyan University. Before attaining his M.S., Kevin also was an equities trader at Kirby York, a New York-based hedge fund. He is currently pursuing his M.B.A. at Boston University.

Lisa joined the firm in May of 2000. Lisa has over 30 years of experience in municipal bond trading and portfolio management. She joined The Bank of Boston in 1978 where she worked in the municipal trading and underwriting area until 1990. Lisa transferred to Eagle Investment where she was responsible for all tax-exempt trading for the trust, custodial and agency accounts. She was also the Portfolio Manager for the bank's money market funds with assets totaling over $6 billion. Lisa is a member of the Municipal Bond Club of Boston. Lisa attended Salem State College.

Ben joined Breckinridge in May, 2014. He has over 15 years of professional trading experience within several asset classes. Prior to Breckinridge, Ben worked at TD Asset Management where he was a Vice President and Senior Fixed Income Trader. He was responsible for the daily oversight of the trading desk, trade execution of various fixed income asset classes, and served on the fixed income portfolio management team. Prior to this role, he gained leadership experience at Banknorth Investment Management where he was promoted to Head Trader in 2005. Ben embarked on his trading career at Fidelity Investments in 1999, obtaining his Series 7, 63 and 4 licenses. Ben holds both an M.B.A. and a B.S. in Finance and Economics from Southern New Hampshire University.

Phil joined Breckinridge in October 1998 and was promoted to Executive Vice President in 2010. In his current role, Phil is directly responsible for the management of the Consultant Relations, Marketing and Client Service teams at Breckinridge. In addition, he sits on the firm’s Executive and Risk Committees. Prior to joining Breckinridge, Phil spent 10 years in institutional fixed income sales and trading at several regional brokerage firms. Previous to his time as an institutional sales/trader, Phil held the role of Investment Officer at the Shawmut Bank of Boston. As an Investment Officer, Phil served on the bank’s liability desk, managing the bank’s repurchase agreement portfolio and other money market instruments. Phil was a member of the Municipal Bond Club of Boston, has held Series 7, 63 and 52 licenses and currently holds his FINRA Series 65 license. Chris joined the Consultant Relations team at Breckinridge in January 2004 as a Vice President and was promoted to Senior Vice President in 2010. In his role, Chris assists in setting the Consultant Relations team’s strategy and directly manages many of the firm’s key relationships. In addition, he serves as a member of the firm’s Risk Committee and has been the primary host of the Breckinridge Podcast since its inception. Previously, he spent 3 years in institutional sales at Decision Economics, Inc., a macro-economic consulting firm based in Boston. At Decision Economics, his primary responsibilities were business development and relationship management for the firm's Global Macro hedge fund and proprietary trading desk clients. He started his career in the Marketing department of Putnam Investments. Tim joined Breckinridge's Consultant Relations team as a Senior Vice President in May 2012. Bringing over 20 years of fixed income experience, Tim now focuses on developing our institutional relationships and has been a leader in introducing our ESG capabilities to clients. He speaks regularly at industry conferences focusing on the importance of integrating ESG analysis into mainstream fixed income credit research and on value based fixed income investment strategies for institutional investors. Prior to Breckinridge, Tim was a Vice President at Fidelity Investments where he launched and managed the firm's Municipal Finance Group within Fidelity Capital Markets. In that capacity, his group was responsible for average annual underwriting engagements in excess of $30 billion. Before his time with Fidelity, he spent over 10 years with Corby Capital Markets where he managed sales and marketing and served his last 3 years as the firm's President. Tim started his career in fixed income as an institutional salesman with both Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette and RBC Dain Rauscher. Tim has served as Governor of the Municipal Bond Club of Boston and has held FINRA licenses; Series 7, 63, 24 & 53. He currently holds his Series 65 and received his B.A. from Hobart College. J.W. serves as Breckinridge’s Director of Client Services and Key Accounts Manager. In 2006, he returned to Breckinridge as a member of the Consultant Relations team after an initial year from 2003-2004. With over 12 years of client services and relationship management experience within the financial services industry, J.W. is directly responsible for ensuring the firm exceeds advisors’ expectations in day-to-day interactions. Additionally, J.W. serves as head of the firm’s Risk Committee. Previously, he spent 2 years with Shepherd Kaplan, LLC where his responsibilities included manager search and selection, along with relationship management support for both their institutional and private client divisions. Andrew joined Breckinridge in November 2002 as Chief Operating Officer. He assumed the additional role of Chief Compliance Officer in November 2006. Andrew has over 25 years experience managing professional service organizations. Prior to joining Breckinridge, Andrew was President of AM Consulting where he consulted to a select group of clients in the financial service and legal markets with a focus on technical strategy and implementation and executive level operational support. From 1983 through 1995, Andrew was a principal in Legal Support Services, a technology consulting firm providing technical expertise and strategies to professional services companies. Andrew has a B.A. in Psychology from Dartmouth College and a M.B.A. from Boston University.
- Kathy WashburnSustainability Officer
Kathy serves as Breckinridge’s Sustainability Officer and Senior Vice President of Business Integration. Kathy returned to Breckinridge in 2007 having previously worked at Breckinridge from 1995-2001. Prior to her original Breckinridge employment, she spent 3 years at Colonial Management as a Trader and 3 years at Massachusetts Financial Services (MFS). At MFS, Kathy served as a Trading Assistant and Quantitative Analyst for various municipal mutual funds teams. She started her career as a Trading Assistant at Putnam Investments and brings over 25 years of experience to Breckinridge. Kathy graduated from Northeastern University with a B.S. in Finance and has a Project Management Graduate Certificate from Boston University.

Jesse joined Breckinridge in February 2011 and serves as the Director of Development. He has over 10 years of experience designing and managing large-scale distributed systems. Previously, he was a Senior Web Systems Engineer for Aetna, where he specialized in online information security, infrastructure design, and performance analysis. He also represented Aetna at Microsoft's Interoperability Executive Council, a consortium dedicated to creating standards across emerging internet technologies. Prior to Aetna, Jesse was a Systems Developer at the University of Connecticut where his responsibilities included development of online education systems, external/internal web portals, and public facing web entities. He started his career in 2001 with Sennheiser Electronics Corp, as manager of North American Marketing and Ecommerce websites.

Matt joined Breckinridge's Technology team in January 2012, and has over 10 years of experience with diverse, large-scale system design and support . He started his career working at Central Connecticut State University's (CCSU) School Of Technology as a server and network administrator. Responsibilities included providing support to faculty and students as well as the design and setup of the university's information systems. In 2006, Matt joined Travelers Inc. as a Distributed Systems Specialist responsible for the management and support of the organization's data center. In 2007 Matt moved to Aetna Inc.'s Web Engineering team. This position focused on all facets of "web" technology including system design, development, automation and administration. Matt graduated from CCSU in 2006 with a B.S. in Information Technology with a concentration in Networking Engineering.
